“South Carolina is a place where neighbors help neighbors. As a local company, we believe that it is important to give back to our community.
Clinch & Harry
We were hugely complimented when we received the call from the producers of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and we immediately thought of our associates at Classic Home Building and Design, who will now partner with to build this home for a family in need. It is a big and exciting challenge professionally and personally for all involved. We have assembled a “team” of talented companies and individuals, from within the local building industry. We are pulling together, to accomplish a great task. We hope that what we do reflects to the nation, the generous character South Carolina, and of our local community. We are extremely blessed to be used in this way.”

Classic Home Building & Design opened its doors for business in 1999, and it has been blazing a trail through the local real estate and construction market ever since.
Now 500 spectacular custom homes later, Classic Home Building & Design still follows its original mission of creating a building process that is as worry-free as possible. By committing themselves fully to each of their clients individually - learning about their priorities, their tastes, and their budget - they can more accurately offer suggestions and changes to the concept and design that still honors a client’s vision.
Quality, customer satisfaction, safety, and durability are the cornerstones of this company’s philosophy, and it shows in the homes they build and the relationships they have made along the way. Owned and operated by the dynamic mother and son team of Susan and Berkley White, Classic Homes has truly made building and designing customized residences a family tradition.

Our story at Classic Home Building & Design begins and ends with family. Thank you Extreme Makeover – Home Edition for giving us this opportunity to do what we do best---helping a family realize their dream for their home! Our whole team has worked tirelessly to make this “extreme building” project come together. Everyone has contributed ideas as well as volunteering their time, talents and monetary contributions. It’s a monumental task but well worth the effort, certainly a great example of what can be accomplished by people working together to help one another.
Berkely & Susan
We are so excited and thrilled to combine our family with the team at Hall Custom Homes to help such a deserving family.

Susan White’s involvement in the home building and design industry began for her as a little girl, growing up in a Cape Cod style home her mother designed and her father built. Born in High Point, NC Susan has been living and working in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, since 1983.
Having owned and operated two residential and commercial development companies along the Grand Strand before starting Classic Home Building & Design with her son, Berkley, Susan is well acquainted with the area, the trends, and the business. As a Residential Home Designer since 1974, and a certified Interior Designer since 1975, Susan knows custom home building quite literally from the inside out - from conception to interior design.
Susan is mother to three grown children, Berkley, Abraham, and Liza and married to Tom Ferriott; they have four amazing grandsons, Will, Wade, Abraham, and Anderson. She is an active member in her community and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Myrtle Beach.

As a boy, Berkley White received his appreciation for home building from his mother, Susan, and his father, Logan, who were pursuing successful careers in the Home Building industry. Later, Berkley would learn his own appreciation for the craft of home construction by working on an endless parade of home sites, eventually running his own framing business as a young man.
Now, as owner and vice president of Classic Home Building & Design, Berkley oversees the estimating, scheduling, and managing of the subcontractors, and was honored as Homebuilder of the Year in 2005 for those skills.
Born in Greensboro, NC, Berkley has been living in Horry County for over 20 years. He has been married for 8 years to his lovely wife, Kim, who is also a key member of the Classic Home Building team. They have two sons, Will and Wade. Berkley is an active member in his community, serving different roles on the board of Horry Georgetown Home Builders Association, and the local chapter of Ducks Unlimited.
